Abstract painting often disturbs visitors to the museum, as it can appear hard to understand. We can define the abstract painting developed throughout the second decade of the 20th century as painting which simply and definitively moves away from figurative shapes understandable at first glance. Abstract images become autonomous as they do not refer to the sensitive world from which the viewer must learn to detach themselves.
