The town of Faenza, near Ravenna in Italy, become one of the main hubs for ceramics production in the Renaissance. It specialised in the creation of clay-based terracotta objects, covered with a coating known as a glaze or enamel. This is the Faience earthenware technique, which takes its name from the town of Faenza.
