Panel of 30 Tiles

Cornelis Boumeester
Late 17th century
In the port of Rotterdam

The earthenware tiles produced in the Netherlands and northern France from the 17th century onwards were used to decorate the walls of kitchens and servants' quarters. In most cases, each tile depicted an individual scene. More rarely, talented earthenware makers produced large patterns spread over several tiles, as is the case here.
